Prof. Lakshmi Nandan Bora, presently editor of the widely circulated Assamese literary magazine Gariyashi is not only a celebrated literatuer in India and a household name in Assam but also a notable scientist with significant contributions to climatology and agricultural meteriology. He is former President of Asom Sahitya Sabha. He has authored 77 books in total which include novels, anthologies of short stories, travelogues, autobiographies etc.
His writings are published in various Indian languages and adopted for movies and TV serials. His novel Ganga Chilanir Pakhi is translated to and published by National Book Trust in major languages and Sahitya Academy has also published his novel Patal Bhairabi in Hindi, Marathi, Bengali and Odia.
He is recipient of Padma Sri Award, Sahitya Academy Award, Rachna Samagra, Assam Government’s Madhavdev Award among others.
