Jayanto Narayan Choudhury, a former alumnus of Mayo College, is the vice president of Public Health Foundation of India. Having superannuated as the Director General of the elite National Security Guard in 2015, he had also served the DGP of Assam. A 1978 batch IPS officer, he graduated from Shriram College of Commerce, University of Delhi and did his Masters from the Delhi Schools of Economics.
He was awarded the President’s Police Medal for Distinguished Service Indian Police Medal for Meritorious Service and the IPS Sword of Honour for best Outdoor Trainee at the National Police Academy in Hyderabad.
He is now an independent director on the board of Gas Authority of India Limited (GAIL) and also on the board of Commonwealth Human Rights Initiative (CHRI).
